London based jazz vocalist Juliet Wood is establishing herself as a voice to be heard with the release of her debut album Sconsolato. This self-confessed musical magpie has pulled together a collection of tunes chosen for, and connected through, shimmering harmonies that are eloquently described by beautiful melodic lines.
Each song holds a particular magic that inspired Juliet to colour it from her own tonal palette ranging from dark and smoky through crystalline and transparent. Her collaboration with three masters of Latin-flavoured Jazz – John Crawford (piano), Andrés Lafone (bass) and Andrés Ticino (drums & percussion) – adds complex rhythms and an intriguing vibe, overlaying and enlivening the flowing vocal lines.
